Thorpe Adventures

Booking terms & visitor information

Version 2026-10-v1

Booking and payment

Your booking is confirmed when payment has been verified and you receive a booking confirmation. Payment is required in full. Activity prices are per person unless stated otherwise. Check the activity, date, time, participant numbers and suitability before paying. Every participant must complete an Acceptance of Risk form online or on paper before taking part.

Where to meet

For all activities, meet your instructor in the Thorpe Adventures HQ car park, using the linked map pin. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your session. Your instructor will escort you to the activity area. Do not go directly to the river jetty or other activity areas. Contact us if you need help with access or directions.

What to bring

Wear outdoor clothing suitable for the weather and your chosen activity. Long sleeves and trousers are recommended. Wear secure footwear that covers the whole foot; please check the activity-specific instructions or contact us if unsure. Bring any medication you may need and drinking water. Discuss relevant medical conditions, injuries or concerns privately with your instructor before taking part. Do not enter medical details into the website.

Participation and supervision

Check the minimum age and suitability information on the activity page before booking; requirements vary by activity. The maximum participant weight for climbing and high ropes is 120 kg. Participants must fit the safety equipment correctly. Follow all staff instructions and behave safely and respectfully. Do not participate under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Unsafe or abusive behaviour may result in removal from an activity. Adults sign their own Acceptance of Risk form. For under-18s, a parent/person with parental responsibility or an authorised supervising adult must sign and confirm that appropriate permission is in place. Signing does not remove any participant’s legal rights or Thorpe Woodlands’ responsibilities.

Cancellations and changes

You may cancel for a full refund within 24 hours of making your booking, provided the booking was made at least 48 hours before the session starts. This concession does not apply to bookings made less than 48 hours before the session. After the concession expires, or where it does not apply, cancellation charges reflect the loss caused by cancellation, up to the full booking price. We take account of costs saved and amounts recovered by reselling places. Changes of date are subject to availability and agreement. Use the cancellation-request link in your confirmation or contact hello@thorpeadventures.co.uk, quoting your booking reference. The time your request is received is used to assess the concession. If you arrive late, you may miss the safety briefing and be unable to join; missed sessions are subject to the same loss-based cancellation approach. These terms do not affect your statutory rights.

Weather and cancellation by us

Activities normally run in a range of weather conditions. If we cancel your session, including because of unsafe conditions, staff absence or closure, you can receive a full refund or choose an alternative date if one is available. We will contact you as soon as possible. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Understanding the Risks
I understand that adventure activities may involve physical effort, the use of equipment, working at height, and exposure to the natural outdoor environment. I recognise that these activities carry a risk of injury, including serious injury.
I understand that Thorpe Woodlands takes reasonable steps to keep participants safe through training, supervision, equipment checks, and safety procedures, but that it is not possible to remove all risks.
I understand that nothing in this form affects my legal rights, including Thorpe Woodlands’ responsibility for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Participant Responsibilities
I will listen to and follow all instructions given by Thorpe Woodlands staff.
I am fit and well enough to participate in the activity.
I will inform staff of any relevant medical conditions, injuries, or concerns that may affect my participation.
I will not take part while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
I will behave safely, responsibly, and respectfully while on site.

Declaration
By signing, I confirm that I understand and accept the risks involved in the activity and agree to participate.
Where signing for an under-18 participant, I confirm that I am their parent/person with parental responsibility, or an authorised supervising adult with the appropriate permission for their participation. I have shared the safety responsibilities with the participant in a way they can understand. I am signing for the named participant only.
